![]() ![]() The result implied that milling time was significantly affecting the zeolite particle size, material surface area, and the size of pore diameter and volume. The research design was randomized design. Physical and chemical characters of zeolite were analyzed using BET, PSA, XRD and SEM. The treatment consisted of (1) different length of milling time (10, 20, 30, 40, and 60 minutes) and (2) the duration of chemical activation with 1 N KOH solution. Potassium permanganate (KMnO4) is a strong oxidizer for reducing the quantity of ethylene in storage process of fresh horticultural products. This study was conducted to determine zeolites physico-chemical characters from different particle size and the effect on KMnO4 absorption. Zeolite as a KMnO4 binder, has been widely recognized for its ability to extend the shelf life of vegetables and fruits. Nano- sized material has several advantages which are expanding absorptive surfaces so it will enhance the material absorption and shorten the absorption time. ![]() Recently, researches on nanotechnology have been developed very rapid, as well as the utilization of nano- zeolites. ![]() Widayanti, Siti Mariana Syamsu, Khaswar Warsiki, Endang Yuliani, Sri Pore clogging and structural damage in smaller particle sizes is probably the reason for lower uptake of metals by the latter.Įffect of natural Bayah zeolite particle size reduction to physico-chemical properties and absortion against potassium permanganate (KMnO4) The final results indicate that heavy metals can be sufficiently removed by using 25% w/w of zeolite with particle size of 3.3-4.0 mm. ![]() This paper deals with the removal of heavy metals from sewage sludge compost using natural zeolite clinoptilolite, in respect to the particle size. These metals may be leached and enter the ecosystem, the food chain, and eventually the human population. However, the major technical problem with land application of sludge concerns the high concentrations of heavy metals. Land application of sewage sludge may be the least energy consuming and the most cost-effective means of sludge disposal or utilization.
